Liz's "As Old As Time" is the best out of all of them. "Once Upon A Dream" is better than "A Whole New World" but it's still not super great. I got bored really easily. It was a nice concept but it just took too long to get to the point.

An interesting concept, but the story is slow to get going. The writing is mediocre and an excessive amount of time is spent describing the same things over and over. The last 100 pages were probably the best. The book could have benefited from a strong editor. Not inspired to read anything else by the author.

I am a huge Sleeping Beauty fan and I loved this book. It is a beautiful reimagining of the story. The characters of both Princess Aurora and Prince Phillip are well developed and there are great themes about female empowerment, self discovery, empathy, overcoming depression and what loving someone really means. I can't wait to read the other books in the series. If you enjoyed Meleficent or Wicked, or Tangled, I think you will enjoy this book.

I enjoyed the original story and the Disney film of Sleeping Beauty. This book is based on both, and gets even darker than the Disney film, but not quite as dark as the original story. It focuses on Aurora, as expected, but also focuses more on Maleficent and Prince Phillip, the latter of which didn't get much focus in the film and wasn't exactly an upstanding person in the original tale. It's nice to see he has a part in the story too, when he and Aurora genuinely loved each other in the Disney film. Braswell's expansion of the whole story has been very enjoyable to read and I look forward to reading more of her novels when I get the chance.

 If you love Disney you will love the twisted Tale series.

This book ind of started out slow, but got super good. For sure an interesting view on the whole story and took a little bit to wrap my head around it. But overall it was a great book.

This book is ridiculously bad. It seemed okay at first, but as soon as Aurora meets the prince, it becomes unbearable. Their relationship is awkward in a terrible way. If you’re not an avid reader, you may enjoy this book, otherwise I would pick up something else. The language seems like it’s meant for 3rd graders and the adjectives are ad-libbed in just to have an extra word. I did want to pick up the other Disney stories, but they have fallen to the very bottom of my next-to-read list.

These books have gotten my ten year old to start reading everyday! Thank you! She loves the stories and so do I, I’ll be buying every one of them.

Caroline Fei-Yeng Kwok has had first hand experience with mental illness and has put that experience into beautiful words so that everyone can benefit. She describes her difficult times, her treatments and her mistreatments. She also describes her recovery. Seven dimensions of recovery from mental illnesses have recently been more explicitly delineated (1). The first has to do with independence in decision-making. This was difficult for Fei-Yeng to achieve because she came from a culture that valued submission and co-dependence. Obedience is what her parents expected of her and she yielded, even though she now lived in North America and autonomy is what she secretly yearned for. It led to difficulties in her relationship with her mother and meant that, despite the closeness that had always existed within her family, she had to look elsewhere to establish a network of friends who could provide support she needed the second listed dimension of recovery. She also had to adopt a new social role once she lost her previous three identities, those of a wife, a traditional Chinese woman, a teacher. It was when she assumed her new role as writer that her recovery began. She also worked with a trusted therapist and chose to stay on medication even though wrongful prescription of medication had almost killed her. About the Author
Caroline Fei-Yeng Kwok was born in Hong Kong. After attending Ying Wa Girls School in Hong Kong, she went to study English Literature at the University of Minnesota in 1970. She graduated with Summa Cum Laude and an Honours Award. She then returned to Hong Kong and taught English as a Second Language at the University of Hong Kong before her immigration to Canada in 1974. In 1975, Caroline received her Bachelor of Education from the University of Toronto and started teaching with the Toronto District School Board. In 1982, she received her Master of Education from the Ontario Institute For Studies In Education, University of Toronto. In the summer of 1996, she was admitted to the Creative Writing Department at Yale University. Prior to her admission, three of her articles were published in the Toronto Star. In 2001, she attended the Humber School for Writers Summer Program in Toronto. She studied at the New York State Summer Writers Institute in 2004. In 2001, Caroline was the recipient of the 2001 Courage To Come Back Award sponsored by the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health in Toronto. Caroline is a published writer. Her articles have appeared in Psychiatric Services, Cross Currents and Visions Magazine. She is the author of The Tormented Mind. Free to Fly is a non-fiction about her own experience as a Chinese woman afflicted with manic-depression.
